POST TENEBRAS LUX

COUNSELING

About

Hi! I’m Krysten Blouin, a biblical counselor and the founder of Post Tenebras Lux Counseling (PTLC). Are you struggling today? I’ve been there. I know what it is to suffer. I know what it is to hurt. But I also know, firsthand, the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Whether you’re walking through anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, personal sin struggles, or just feel overwhelmed and need a safe place to process, biblical counseling is for you. You don’t have to carry these burdens alone.

I understand how scary it can be to reach out for help, or even just to take that first step before the plunge. But take heart, my friend, for the deep waters you are about to dive into are filled with the unfathomable love and grace of the God who sees you, knows you, and will never let you go.

Get To Know Me: I’m a native Floridian who loves the outdoors, reading, podcasts, playing and writing music, biking, rollercoasters, swimming in the springs, and hanging with family, friends, and my doggos. My idea of a perfect day off is spending quality time with my hammock at the beach with a good book, my ukulele, and the sunset.

Philosophy of Care

Biblical counseling offers compassionate soul care that’s anchored in the Word of God and guided by the wisdom of the Holy Spirit. It addresses the root issues of the heart, applies the truth of the Gospel to all areas of life, and gently points sufferers toward the lasting hope and healing that can only be found in Christ.

Clinically-informed and trauma-informed counseling can enrich biblical counseling by offering insights into how trauma affects the brain, body, and behavior, helping counselors care more wisely for those in distress. When filtered through a biblical worldview, these frameworks can serve as tools to better understand suffering and support counselees, without compromising on the sufficiency of Scripture.

God created us not just as body and soul, but as embodied souls, meaning that biblical counseling is only one part of the equation when seeking to provide holistic, comprehensive care. He also created us for fellowship within the local church and to live under the shepherding care of its leaders. Ideally, biblical counseling should take place under the care and oversight of the counselee’s church leadership and, when appropriate, in collaboration with a healthcare provider.

Post Tenebras Lux

A rallying cry of the Reformation, Post Tenebras Lux means “After Darkness, Light.” It’s a phrase that captures the hope of the gospel breaking into our darkest moments. As Psalm 112:4 reminds us, “Light dawns in the darkness…” You may be walking through the darkest season of your life right now, but even there, the light of Christ shines brightly. The gospel offers true hope amidst our sorrow, confusion, and pain. No matter how long or dark the night, the sun always rises in the morning. There is light after darkness.

Common Grace

Because of God’s common grace given to all of creation, both believers and unbelievers can observe helpful insights about the human experience. While secular counseling perspectives operate from a different foundation, Christians can still benefit from their research and knowledge. There’s wisdom in seeing the value of critically engaging with psychology. All truth, when wisely filtered through God’s Word, is God’s truth.

Scripture is the final authority in all matters of life. Every counseling conversation is approached with the conviction that God’s Word is sufficient and that all wisdom must ultimately submit to these truths.
